PAWCATUCK, Conn., Aug. 3, 2017 – Cable Components Group (CCG) announced today that it has named Charles M. Glew of Charlestown, R.I., to the new position of Technical Services Sales Engineer.

The position was created to support CCG customers with technical service and process engineering for a wide range of new compounds. Glew will participate in customer visits and processing trials, and will be part of the commercial team for CCG’s extruded products and compounds. He will also focus on advancing the lightweighting of CCG’s foamable compounds, including its patented FluoroFoam® and other engineered resins ranging from perfluoropolymers to polyolefins.

During three summers as an intern at CCG, Glew became proficient at operating extrusion lines that use chemically foamable materials, as well as extruding insulating perfluoropolymers over copper conductors. He also enhanced his extrusion capabilities in the material science lab at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y., while pursuing his engineering degree.

Glew previously was a NanoWave™ Operations Manager at ThermoAura, Inc., a nanomaterials and clean-energy company in Colonie, N.Y. Before that, he served as a representative in a Commercial Development Program at SABIC in Pittsfield, Mass. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in technology commercialization from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y.

“The addition of Charles to our staff will be invaluable to CCG, not only from a commercial standpoint, but from a technical standpoint,” according to Barbara Cioffi, Vice President, Operations. “His ability to enhance our process engineering capabilities and to advance our industry leading position in lightweighting of foamable compounds will help to ensure our continued rapid growth.”

About Cable Components Group

Cable Components Group (CCG), founded in 1998, designs, engineers and manufactures extruded products for wire and cable, fiber optic cables and industrial non-wovens.  CCG’s 6-LAN crosswebs are foamed and include patented designs for Category 6, 6e and 6A LAN cables.  CCG’s FluoroFoam® is a patented chemical foaming agent of fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) or perfluoro methyl alkoxy (MFA) for use in insulations, tapes and 6-LAN crosswebs.  Foamed fluorine-based products are particularly suited for the evolving Power over Ethernet (POE) or Power over LAN standards.  These standards require materials with enhanced thermal stability, and foamed FEP or MFA insulation and jacketing offer an added safety margin for POE applications.

CCG is focused on innovative new products for wire, cable and fiber optic applications.  The investment into three new compounding lines gives CCG an opportunity to vertically integrate materials to service our customers with innovative, higher temperature-rated, fire retardant and foamable materials.  Compounding also opens the door to broadening CCG’s commitment to highly thermally stable insulation and jacketing grades for both riser (CMR) and plenum (CMP) cable applications.
